In7.x, when working in the administrative consoles in RightNow, the fields included in the Search pop-up box are defined as run-time filters. These filters can be edited and modified when using the view. This includes views at the Sales Console, the Support and Answer Consoles, and the Contact and Outbound Email Consoles.
The order of the run-time filters determines the order of the options within the consoles. Filters are grouped based on the type of field so that integer fields are listed in the same menu and text fields are listed in a different menu. Within each menu, the order of the options are determined by the order listed in the run-time filter section of the view.
To add or remove run-time filters from a view, use the steps below. These steps assume you are working with an existing view that is already in use and that the Table Instances are already defined for the view. For more comprehensive information on creating custom views, refer to
Answer ID 1832: Creating Custom Views.
- Navigate to the Views table for the appropriate console. For example, in 7.x, for Support Console views, from the Service Configuration menu, select Views > Support > Console. For a Sales Console view, use the path Sales Configuration menu > Views > Sales Console.
- In the left frame, right click on the view name and select Edit.
- In the right frame, click the Data Set tab.
- Review the Run-time Selectable Filters section. The fields listed coincide with the fields that can be set and edited from the Search pop-up box. Menu custom fields display in the top part of the Search pop-up. Integer, date, and text fields are included in the lower part of the pop-up.
- To add a run-time filter, click the Add New Row icon ( ).
Type in a Name.
Right click in the Expression field to select the table and field to be used for the filter.
Select the Operator and set the Value field to the default value for the view.
If you wish, enter text for the Prompt value to be used as the field name.
- Click the up or down arrow to move the filter so that it appears in the Search menu in the order that you wish.
- Check the logical expression. If this is blank, all filters are joined by an AND connector, that is, search results only display if the conditions of filter 1 AND filter 2 AND filter 3, etc. are met. For more information on using logical expressions, refer to
Answer ID 1041: Using Logical Expressions.
- When finished editing your run-time filters, click Update. In 7.x, you must log out and log back in to see the changes in your view filters.
